Web 2.0

If you’re anything like me, keeping up with the latest tech trends and figuring out which ones are right for you can sometimes feel overwhelming. Yet let’s face it: whether you’re a business, a non-profit organization or an individual just looking to get ahead, the Web is where it’s at and you can’t afford to fall behind. Knowing what tools the Web offers and how to use them will not only save you time and money, it’ll increase your visibility and amplify your opportunity for making an impact.

Fortunately, it’s easier than ever to become web-savvy. All you need is a little curiosity, a willingness to try something new, and someone to show you the way. Yet it’s often for want of the latter that many people don’t take full advantage of the Web. Having lived in San Francisco the last several years, I was particularly lucky in that many of the friends I turned to for guidance were the very brain punks building this stuff!

It’s thanks to them I became web-savvy and why I’m so keen to share what I’ve learned with others. That said, you should probably know this about me: as much as I love being mistaken for one, I’m not a real geek. But for what I aim to offer, I see that as a good thing. It’s why, when people turn to me for web advice, I’m able to give them the “Web 2.0 for the Rest of Us” version, framing my answers and advice in a way even the most geek-challenged among us can understand.

So what is it I aim to offer as a Web 2.0 Consultant? Well, see that map I’ve made above—just think of me as your own personal sherpa to that landscape. I’ll show you what Web 2.0 tools are out there for tasks such as collaborating with your team virtually, creating your own private social network, running a large-scale, spam-proofed HTML-email marketing campaign, and managing your event’s RSVPs and ticket sales virtually. Click on the map to see a larger view of my favorite Web 2.0 tools and what they have to offer.
